We know the direction we want to head in, and what defines our success. Do we know how to actually get where we want to go? Do we have a goal in mind? Creating targets, plans, and budgets can help us stay on track for any level of project.

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) takes data-driven decision making to a new level. Evolving dashboards show data in a quick, efficient display that helps them track their operational and budget targets. Decision makers can quickly see where more support may be needed and allows them to reallocate resources so that teams can stay on track. These dashboards show DNR team members the impact and value of the work they do – which helps foster a team focused environment that prioritizes helping one another meet their operational goals!

The Department of Revenue (DOR) approaches budget and planning in a straightforward and structured manner. Utilizing the budget description forms, they answer the pressing questions like “what strategic priority does this address?” and “how do we actively measure success?”. Answering questions like these help DOR communicate with the General Assembly on their goals to ensure that they are aligning with the larger goals of the Governor’s office.

Forming targets and plans as a team can seem like a daunting task. Discussing how team members programs and projects provide a value to the state can help teams stay focused on the main goal –   building a better Missouri every day!
